    Back Loaded Horn 828's

Has anybody ever tried making a back loaded horn with the 828 or 825 cabinet? I did a search a couple of nights ago and could find ant threads on one.

If you omit the vent baffle boards it's a high tuned one, otherwise I'm not familiar with anyone trying to cram a lower tuned one in such as acoustically small space.

I started buildind one a few days ago. I have 6'6" of horn in just the back half. Should get another 30" once I'm through the baffle board. My throat area doubles three times in that distance. It's not by "the book" but I think it'll work.

As the saying goes, "it's been done"

Easiest thing to get a bigger horn is make the box taller.

I built a few such hybrids, with mixed results. As long as you don't mind a frequency response graph that looks like a roller coaster, some LF can be gained.

I have completely abandoned back loading combo horns, there are inherent phase issues you are aware of if you've done your homework.

IMHO, the only viable option for small bass cabs is the curled horn, such as but not limited to the Tuba stuff.

I don't care for most BP boxes, they aren't horns but can be small and loud, albeit "one note wonders"

Or what happened to the poor fellows onstage when I accidentally bumped the monitor slider all the way up....
